A VERY SPECIAL WC TO MEET DDA NEEDS

A new brochure which showcases VitrA’s comprehensive collection of washroom products for special needs applications is now available. The collection includes, what is believed to be, the world’s first fully DDA compliant back-to-wall WC, originally designed by VitrA for the accessible washrooms at Terminal 5 and now widely available to installers and specifiers of bathroom equipment.

The new compliant WC is a one piece ceramic back-to-wall pan that meets the DDA projection requirements of 750mm and height of 485mm – the design overcomes the current practice of putting a box behind the pan. Not only is the design compliant but it is also far more hygienic and aesthetically pleasing. What’s more it has also been tested to flush on four litres of water.

Also within VitrA’s special needs range are basic Doc M packs, close coupled packs, and a mix and match option of wall-hung or back-to-wall WC’s with a range of complementary basins. The basin range includes the K1 and K2 models designed for T5, which have simple, clean contemporary lines, space to place personal items and are wheelchair friendly.

VitrA’s range meets all the legislative and specification requirements of special needs applications without compromising on style. Phil Baker, Contract & Specifications Manager comments: “Just because someone is in a wheelchair it doesn’t mean that they don’t want a bathroom that is stylish. Our range provides a complete package for installers looking for a design-led solution.”
